Questions for 2005 City of Houston candidates

The Citizens' Transportation Coalition (CTC) is an all-volunteer grassroots transportation advocacy organization. Formed in 2004, we are interested in transportation planning issues and opportunities across the 8-county Houston region.

Do City of Houston candidates care about your neighborhood's transportation needs?

We asked this year's candidates for Houston City Council what they think about several transportation policy issues that affect neighborhoods. Most questions included background information. Our questions and the candidates' responses are presented in six sections:

Introduction
1. General
2. Toll road accountability
3. More transportation alternatives
4. Balancing interests within the transportation system
5. Regional transportation planning
6. Public and private interests

Process notes

CTC volunteers contacted all 43 of the candidates for Houston City Council by phone to invite them to participate in our survey. Questions were sent to candidates and returned by email and fax. All candidates received the same questions. Candidate responses are presented verbatim.

See the Houston City Secretary's website for the list of candidates and links to their 2005 Campaign Finance Reports.

We have made every effort to include every candidate. We are continuing to post responses as they come in. If you are interested in seeing answers from a candidate who has not yet responded, we invite you to contact them directly and urge them to participate.
